20% Project Week 5

For my fifth week of the 20% project I achieved many things. One thing I did this week is I reviewed how to say my family members in Spanish. For example, mom is mama, dad is papa, grandma is abuela and grandpa is abuelo. What I achieved this week was how to say the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 in Spanish. I wanted to learn this because last week I asked the Spanish teacher at Hewes Middle School what I should learn to prepare myself next year for Spanish 1. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 in Spanish is uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis, siete, ocho, nueve and diez. I achieved this goal by writing these words on note cards and practicing them like a song just repeating them on and on and on. My struggle this week was mixing up the numbers 8, 9, and 10. This is because I used to learn Spanish and when I did learn it I only learn 1-5. Next week I will learn how to say 1-20 in Spanish!

Rad Reading – April

The book I read in April was BUSHFIRE RESCUE by Justin D’ath. This book is about a boy named Sam that is at his Grandparents ranch. While Sam is riding Susie (his Pops horse), Susie happens to trip and fall and crash into a wired fence. That’s when Sam notices two people in a running truck with a trailer that he’s never seen before at the ranch that look very suspicious. This is when they both make eye contact with each other and the man confronts Sam to ask if he needs help. That’s when Sam realizes that the men don’t work at Pops ranch, they are there to capture and take a prizewinning bull that his grandparents own. When Sam finds this out he freaks out and…

I recommend reading this awesome book. This is because the book has many suspenseful and breathtaking moments. Also I recommend reading this book because makes you realize how important it is to know your way around nature. Finally I recommend reading this book because it leaves you on a cliff hanger every chapter so you always want to read this book non-stop.

In this book Sam is my favorite character. Sam is my favorite character for many reasons. One reason is because he is tough, on page 68-69 “It was so painful I nearly blacked out again. Already the bridge of my foot was turning red and purple. You didn’t need an x-ray to know it was broken.” This proves he’s tough because he kept on going with a visibly broken foot. Sam is also brave, on page 83 “I would have to succeed where four hundred and twelve professional rodeo riders had failed.” This demonstrates that Sam is brave because he rides a bull that over four hundred pro’s had failed to ride to save his grandparents bull. Finally Sam is smart. This is proven on page 29 “The second plank popped off its bolts as if they were made of play dough.” This shows Sam is smart because if he didn’t pop off the plank then the rustlers would have gotten away.

My favorite quote is on page 118. “Make your surroundings work for you.” This is my favorite quote because if Sam didn’t make his surroundings work for him, he would have died to the bushfire. Also this quote is meaningful because it can relate to everything in life, and make you realize how important it is to use your surroundings. Finally this is my favorite quote because you can identify potential dangers and take important measures to protect yourself.

20% Project Week 4

For the fourth week of the 20% project I learned lots of things. One thing I did this week was review how to say good morning and good night in Spanish, I also reviewed how to say the rainbow in Spanish. What I accomplished this week is how to say my family members in Spanish. For example grandma in Spanish is (abuela) and grandpa in Spanish is (abuelo). I wanted to learn how to say grandma and grandpa in Spanish because I told my grandparents I will be able to have a conversation with them in Spanish when they come visit us. Also I learned how to say mom in Spanish (mama), and dad in Spanish (papa). I wanted to learn how to say mom and dad in Spanish so I can be able to talk to them in Spanish. Finally, I learned how to say brother and sister in Spanish, brother which is (hermano) and sister which is (hermana). I wanted to learn these words because my brother is learning to speak Spanish and I want to show my knowledge of Spanish to both my brothers and sister. The struggle I had this week with learning these words is that (grandma and grandpa) and (brother and sister) in Spanish are such alike words that I get them confused with each other. Since (mom and dad) in Spanish are not as alike words, I don’t get them mixed up. This makes it easier to memorize those words and not get them confused with each other. The thing I had to adjust this week was learning how to memorize these words easier. Usually I just use notecards, but this week I tried something different. I used my friend Julian to help me say the words so much that I just memorized the words without having as much struggle as last week. Next week I will accomplish how to welcome people and how to introduce myself to people in Spanish. I will also review the words I learned this week next week. As you can see, week four of my 20% project was successful.

20% Project Week 3

For the third week of the 20% project I learned many things. One thing I learned for week three is how to say “can I have” in Spanish. “Can I have” in Spanish is “puedo tener.” I wanted to learn how to say “can I have” in Spanish because when I take Spanish when I get older, I would want to know how to say a common phrase. Also I want to learn “can I have” in Spanish because when I’m at my house I want to practice saying words and phrases in Spanish and that will help me learn it. Finally I learned the phrase so I can say it so much at my house I can memorize it. The only struggle with learning “can I have” is knowing how to say it with an accent. Also I learned “good night” which is Buenas noches and “good morning” which is Buenas dia. I wanted to this because I can say it every morning and night to my family and if I do that every morning and night for a week, I will memorize it. The only struggle for this week was learning how to actually say the word correctly with a slight accent. Also I struggled with knowing how to say the word in Spanish. Finally I struggled with getting the words mixed up. For example, I sometimes said buenas dia when I meant to say “good night” which is buenas noches. As you can see, week three was very successful.

My Amazing Room

My favorite room in my house is my beautiful bedroom. This is my favorite room because I can open the windows and hear the birds chirp. Also this is my favorite room because my bed (which has a striped comforter) and pillows are there and I love sleeping. Another reason I love my room is because it has my video games and T.V. in there and my bedroom is the closest to the bathroom. Finally, my favorite room is my bedroom because I can open my blinds and look out into the street.

20% Project Week 2

For week two of the 20% project I tried to memorize some of the new words, phrases, and sentences. Some of the new words, phrases, and sentences I learned is the word ropa. Ropa in English means clothes. I also wanted to learn how to say the rainbow in Spanish. First I had to find out how to say the word red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple in Spanish. Next I wrote it on a note card and learned the words and started singing it. My friend named Julian helped me learn these words. The rainbow in Spanish is (Rojo =red, Naranja =orange, Amarillo= yellow, Verde =green, Azul =blue, and Morado =purple). My struggle I had for week two was trying to memorize how to say the colors of the rainbow. Next I was trying to say the rainbow fluently in Spanish. This was a struggle because I kept on stuttering and mixing up the words. As you can see, week 2 was successful.

My Workout Journey

I’m blogging about my workout journey just so you (the reader) can know more about me. My started about two weeks ago, this was when the crush lacrosse team started and the foothill football weight training program. The crush lacrosse has practices on Monday, optional Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The weight training program is on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-5:30. Also, on Mondays we hit arms. And for Wednesdays we hit legs. Finally, I have football games on Fridays, the games times are either at 5:00, 5:50, 6:40, 7:30, 8:20. Sometimes our team has a bye that week, and sometimes our team has double headers. As you can see, my sport and workout journey has been going great!

Learning Spanish-20% Project, Week 1

My name is Logan and for the 20% project I and learning Spanish. What I practiced/did for week 1 is getting notecards, wrote common words, phrases, and sentences in Spanish, then on the back of the notecards I write the definition of the words. Then I shuffle them up and pick one randomly and if it says the word in Spanish I say the translated word in English, and if it’s Spanish I say the word in English. I also go on Duolingo and practice sentences in Spanish to help more. Then I practiced saying sentences in Spanish to my mom, for example “yo te amo” which means I love you, “Hola mi normbre es Logan” which means hi my name is Logan. Finally, I learned about describing your family and clothes from Duolingo, and also learned more words about how to get around an airport and how to greet people, like goodnight and good morning.

The Rams Experience

If I could invite three people to dinner I would invite Matt Gay (A kicker on the NFL Rams), Cooper Kupp (a Rams wide receiver), and Aaron Donald (a defensive tackle on the La Rams). I would invite Matt Gay because he is a kicker and I would ask him what training (work outs) and dedication it took to achieve such a strong kick. Also I would choose Cooper Kupp, I would choose him because I want to ask him what drills and workouts he did to get so fast. Finally I would invite Aaron Donald, I chose him because I would want to ask him what workouts he did to get so strong.

Rad Reading March

My book I read in march was SPIDER BITE by Justin D’ath. This book is about a boy named Sam taking a walk in the park with his brother and someone crashes into a tree in a hot air ballon. And Sam goes to save her and the ballon starts to fly in the air. Then a spider somehow bits Sam’s brother and the ballon crashes into a zoo and Sam has to get antivenin to save his brother’s life from a venomous spider bite.

I recommend reading this book. This is because this book is about adventure and action-packed thriller about a spider. Also, I recommend reading this book because it shows bravery and suspense. Finally, I recommend reading this book because there are lots of obstacles and suspense that will have you on your toes.

Sam is my favorite character. This is because he is brave, on page (57-58) “I lowered my feet, slowly, until… they… finally… touched the 30,000 volt wire. Nothing happened.” This proves he is brave because he risks his life to save his families. Also Sam is my favorite character because he is smart, on page (13) “I’d learned the recovery position in first aid at my old school.” This shows Sam is smart because he knows first aid, and if he didn’t, the pilot would have died. Finally Sam is my favorite character because he is intelligent, page (74) “without the gas bottles aboard, we would no longer be falling as fast.” This quote proves why Sam is intelligent because if he didn’t throw over the gas bottles, Sam, Jordan, and Myrtle would have crashed into the city.

My favorite quote is on page (88), “the wall was fifty feet high and absolutely sheer. Carefully, I worked my way around its padded edge. Below me, one of the bears made a loud, yawny growl.” This my favorite quote because it shows Sam’s willing to risk his life to try to save his little brother’s life. Also, this is my favorite quote because it proves Sam’s determination to save Jordans (his little brother)(s) life. Finally I recommend reading this book because it shows Sam is fearless against a huge Kodiak bear.
